Our Philosophy

At Earlybirds Day Nursery Child Care, we believe that early childhood is the foundation for lifelong learning. Our philosophy is centered around nurturing each child's natural curiosity, creativity, and individuality through play-based learning.

Admissions Statment

At Early Birds Day Nursery, we welcome children aged 9 months to 5 years and are committed to providing high-quality early years education and care in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework.

Our admissions procedures are fair, transparent, and designed to ensure equality of opportunity for all families while supporting the needs of our local community.

Our Commitment

Early Birds Day Nursery operates in accordance with the principles of the EYFS, ensuring that:

  • Every child is treated as a unique individual.
  • Children learn and develop through positive relationships.
  • Learning takes place in enabling environments.
  • All children have the opportunity to thrive regardless of background or circumstance.

We are committed to inclusive practice and do not discriminate on the grounds of race, religion, gender, disability, family structure, or socio-economic background.

Age Range

We provide care and education for children aged:

  • 9 months to 2 years
  • 2 to 3 years
  • 3 to 5 years

All placements are subject to availability within the appropriate age group room and staff ratios as set out in the EYFS statutory requirements.

Admissions Criteria and Priority

Where demand for places exceeds availability, priority will be given in the following order:

  1. Looked After Children (as defined by the Local Authority).
  2. Children who live within the local area.
  3. Children who have siblings currently attending the nursery.
  4. Applications received in date order.

Places are allocated in accordance with available spaces, staffing ratios, and the individual needs of the child to ensure we meet EYFS requirements for safety, welfare, and quality of provision.(EYFS) statutory framework. Our admissions procedures are fair, transparent, and designed to ensure equality of opportunity for all families while supporting the needs of our local community.

Waiting List

When no places are available:

  • Children will be placed on a waiting list.
  • The waiting list is maintained in accordance with the priority criteria outlined above.
  • Places are offered as they become available, taking into account age group availability and staffing ratios under EYFS guidance.

Being placed on the waiting list does not guarantee a future place.

Fees and Funding

Nursery Fees

Our current fee structure is available on this website  and is reviewed annually. Fees are calculated based on:

  • The child’s age group
  • The number of sessions attended
  • The type of booking (full day, half day, or hourly sessions for children splitting funding with schools nursery)

Fees are payable in advance the 1st of each month and must be paid by the agreed due date. Late payments may incur additional charges in line with our Fees Policy. A booking fee may be required to secure a place.

Government Funded Early Education

Early Birds Day Nursery offers funded early education places in line with current government legislation and Local Authority guidance, including:

  • Funded places for eligible 2-year-olds
  • Universal 15 hours funded entitlement for all 3 and 4-year-olds
  • Extended 30 hours funded entitlement for eligible working parents of 3 and 4-year-olds
  • Funding for eligible children aged 9 months and over, where applicable under current government schemes

Funded hours are offered in accordance with Local Authority requirements and stretched across the year where applicable.

Parents are responsible for:

  • Providing valid eligibility codes (where required)
  • Reconfirming codes as required by HMRC
  • Paying for any additional hours attended beyond funded entitlement
  • Any additional services not covered by government funding (such as meals, consumables, or extra activities, where applicable and agreed in advance)

We are committed to delivering funded places in a transparent manner and do not charge top-up fees for funded hours. Any optional additional charges will be clearly explained to parents prior to agreement.

Early Birds Day Nursery supports children with additional needs in line with the EYFS and the SEND Code of Practice. We work in partnership with families, the Local Authority, and external professionals to ensure appropriate support is provided wherever possible and within the limits of our staffing and facilities.
